Minerals and Waste Planning

Somerset County Council are the minerals and waste planning authority for the whole county, with the exception of Exmoor National Park. This means that the county council are responsible for determining planning decisions on minerals and waste development within South Somerset and the preparation of the minerals and waste development plan documents. Consequently, the Somerset Minerals Plan and Waste Core Strategy form part of the Development Plan for the district and guide decisions for future mineral extraction and waste management in Somerset.
