Our services during the festive period

| District

During the festive period between Christmas and New Year, many of our services are affected by closures or are suspended. Below we have summarised all you need to know and how you can access our services in the event of an emergency.

Office & Phone Lines

  • Offices remain closed to the public over the festive period between Christmas and New Year, except Crewkerne and Chard (see below). This has been the case since closing due to Covid-19 for public safety. Our Petters Way office in Yeovil will reopen on Monday 4th January 2021 for appointments only.
  • The Crewkerne and Chard area offices will be Customer Access Point only during this period (and will only be accessible when the TIC or Library is open) with no telephone support.
  • Phone lines will be closed to 01935 462462 from 3pm on Thursday 24th December 2020 until 8.30am on Monday 4th January 2021
  • We will however be proving an emergency helpline on 01935 462462 for essential enquiries such as homelessness
  • You can also use our online facilities for many services such as paying Council Tax or reporting missed waste or recycling collections. Visit our homepage and search for what you need.

Environmental Health

  • Nuisance complaints between Tuesday 22nd December 2020 and Sunday 3rd January 2021 will not be investigated so any reports submitted online will not be picked up by the team until early January
  • Environmental Health emergencies can be reported on our emergency out of hours service
  • Please do not report found or lost dogs online. Instead, please call 01823 215013

Yeovil Crematorium

  • The Crematorium will be close from 5pm on Thursday 24th December until 9am Tuesday 29th December over the Christmas period.
  • The gates to the grounds will however be open daily during the above dates to allow people to pay their respects and attend graves (open 9am – 5pm).
  • The Crematorium will also be closed New Years Day, however the gates to the ground will be open as per the above hours.

Waste & Recycling Collections

Open Facilities

  • Our Ninesprings Café is scheduled to be open throughout, only closing on Christmas Day.
  • Our Octagon Theatre and Westlands Entertainment Venue also remain open.
